WriteRecycle
Some of the best writing happens every day. At personal blogs, inside private writing workshops, at publications large and small. And every day, a lot of this incredible writing goes unread. This is especially the case for marginalized writers. But even many writers with large followings on Twitter struggle to gain readership; and more often than not, when their writing is read — whether it be on personal blogs, medium, or even Twitter or Instagram — they lose their chance to monetize their work simply because they don’t know how to. After all, the Internet is a mix of noise and signal — but mostly noise. If your signal is clear, it cuts through the noise. But your signal can’t just be clear, it also needs a boost.
Without the proper boost of your signal, you and your work can’t standout, which means you can’t successfully build readership or develop a dedicated following or earn residual income from your work. We get it. That’s why Superchamp Books created WriteRecyle. We want to help quality writers boost their signal by investing in book anthologies of their work and giving them a new, centralized literary product to market.
What exactly is WriteRecyle?
WriteRecycle is a publishing program that reinvigorates the literary catalogs of writers by creating book anthologies of their work. Superchamp Books has a proven method for taking the back catalogs of writers (for example, Best Damn Hip Hop Writing titles by Dart Adams and Yoh Phillips), be they blogs or works previously published at media outlets, and converting those works into books that sale.
Instead of letting your catalog go unnoticed, instead not monetizing your literary catalog, instead of only promoting your bylines here and there, you have a book to sale!
How does WriteRecycle work?
t’s simple. You submit your work, usually just a link to your blog or archive of your clips, and if accepted into the program, we take it from there.
We handle the production and bring your book rapidly to market, making it available in print and eBook format around the world. This means that, in addition to retail placement, we provide:
Additional editing/copyediting and proofing
Additional refining and polishing of your work where needed
Typesetting
Book cover design
Marketing support
When will my book be published?
Publication of your book depends on the shape of your catalog, but generally your book will be published 4-8 weeks after signing.
Is there any cost to writers? What’s the catch?
No! And again no! And to be clear, no! There is ZERO cost to writers who are accepted into the WriteRecyle program. In fact, no reputable publishing company charges a writer to be published.
We absorb all the risk. The catch is that we’re confident in our acquisitions strategy! We believe in the writers that we publish, and therefore, we invest in them…because we know that we’ll succeed together. Through WriteRecycle, we only accept writers who we believe in. As such, you help us grow as publishing company, and we help you monetize your previously published work while also building your name as a book author. In fact, in most cases, we expect that this will lead to new publishing opportunities with you down the road. Again, it’s a win, win.
Compensation
At this time, there is no advance offered through WriteRecycle. However, writers selected for inclusion into the program receive a 10% royalty on the paperback retail price and 35% royalty on the eBook retail price. Royalty payments begin 60 days after your book is published; thereafter, you receive royalty payments every month (net 30 days). This is far (far) faster than nearly all publishers. (And you will never have to invoice us or chase us down for owed payment months after they were due.)
To give a clear picture of how your royalty works, it breaks down like this. Let’s look at a book with a list price of $25, you receive a royalty of $2.50. If your book sells 100 copies one month, you earn $250; if your book sells 1,000 copies in a month, you earn $2,500. Simple as that. If your book sales 10,000 copies in a year (that’s likely not going to happen, but hey, you have a better chance than the lotto!), you earn $25,000.
In addition to your royalty, as a Superchamp Books author, you receive lifetime research support in the form of access to our JSTOR account.
